Jesus the TRUE VINE

Where do you abide in most ? Do you know what you consume will more than likely become apart of your subconscious brain and impact your thoughts and actions?

What you abide in matters. When you abide in pornography or posts that allude to such and wonder why you struggle with lust, the answer is because you consume it. When you abide only in social media and wonder why you can’t focus for too long without having to pick up your phone the answer is because that is where you abide in most. What you abide in determines how you go about your life.

The word of God:

John 15 New International Version

The Vine and the Branches

15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.

11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command.15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.17 This is my command: Love each other. Wow, the word of God is so powerful and refreshing, anytime you need reassurance, love, comfort and truth read the word!

Abiding in God produces fruit:

Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.Against such things there is no law. Please remember that as you abide in Christ you will bear good fruit and your fruit will be expressed and seen in everything that you do, ask God for the

  • gentleness of his spirit,
  • The kindness of his heart
  • For the goodness he possespossess to be in you
  • Faithfulness in all things
  • Forbearance and perseverance
  • His love
  • His joy
  • His peace
  • Self-control to withstand things meant to destroy you.

Asking for things like this mean that circumstances will come up that will allow you to practice for instance patience, will you remain faithful and persevere in patience? All of the fruits of the spirit intertwine often and if you want to abide in Christ remain faithful to him and allow the fruits of the spirit to manifest in your everyday lives.

remember abiding in Christ is safety and security he loves you so much! When situations come around that test your faith stand firm and abide in Christ so that his fruit may abide in you.

Dear God help us to according to Stormie Omartian’s words in her power of a praying woman book to replace the wrong in me with the goodness of your character. Help us to know that we are abiding in you and not in ourselves or one another for that peace, safety and love. You are a father and abiding in you is our goal. We love you too and we thank you for the peace that comes with abiding in you. Help us to display your fruit as we face this world. In Jesus Amen.

Salvation of the Jews

Isaiah 51King James Version

51 Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the Lord: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.

Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.

For the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

The Lord is calling us to awaken and hear him, hear his voice.

My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.

For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation.

Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon?

10 Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?

11 Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

12 I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;

13 And forgettest the Lord thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?

14 The captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail.

15 But I am the Lord thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The Lord of hosts is his name.

And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.

17 Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of his fury; thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling, and wrung them out.

18 There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand of all the sons that she hath brought up.

19 These two things are come unto thee; who shall be sorry for thee? desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword: by whom shall I comfort thee?

20 Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull in a net: they are full of the fury of the Lord, the rebuke of thy God.

21 Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine:

22 Thus saith thy Lord the Lord, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:

23 But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as the street, to them that went over.

As I read these scriptures, I hear God’s voice beckoning us to awaken. He is near, he is with us, he is comforting us.

Like the Jews, even if we went astray, God is our Heavenly father and he is looking after us, to take us back from captivity, to heal us, to deliver us and to give us a new home. As you read these scriptures of confidence and comfort. Listen to his voice and how he speaks

New beginnings the transition

New beginnings are upon us all, as we transition we must remember who causes us to move, God. Honour him in the fruit of your lips and in the way you walk. As Israel transitioned to their new abode, it was mentioned “Therefore thou hat forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, becaise they be replenished from the east and are doomsayers like the Philostines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers” Isaiah 2:6

But I was reading Isaiah 50, let us hold fast to the teachings we were taught and the lessons we learn along the way, God will provide a way for you to speak or use them:

“The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

The Lord God hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.

I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.

Behold, the Lord God will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

10 Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.

11 Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.”

This is the obedience of the servant of God.

As God taught them he will teach you, people think that the bible is so far fetched from where they are now. But im here to say as God used Esther to redeem his people he will use you to redeem even one person who is struggling. As God used Moses in leadership who thought he wasn’t equipped, he will use you in leadership to help guide people where God instructs you to guide them, God will give you ideas and vision of what is to come those whose minds are stayed in him and who he has blessed in that way. Do not count yourself out.

Even if people speak a negative word against you, these are all attempts to pull you down from your potential. Stand firm and release what was given to you from the Lord in season. You have his gift.

Lord help us to use the gifts you have given to speak, teach, write and lead. As we transition into a new land we are not going to be afriad for you are with us, we will not be dismayed for you are our God.

I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.11″All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Isaiah 41:10-11.

Help us to transition smoothly.

in Jesus name amen.

LET’S DISCUSS THE STEPS SHALL WE

So in fighting temptation we are BY NO MEANS DOING IT IN OUR OWN FLESH. After spending time in Prayer this morning AND in God’s word because I strongly believe in the two going hand in hand, I came to these conclusions on fighting the temptation.

The word says: “For if ye live after the flesh ye shall die: but if he through the spirit do mortify the deeds of the body ye shall live” Romans 8:13

Romans 8:9-10 “But he are not in the flesh but in the spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin;but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.”

The word makes it plain and simple to live after the spirit and not the flesh because one leads to life the other if fed more leads to death. The deeds of the flesh that tempt us are these:

Immorality,

Sensuality

Impurity

Jealousy

Envy

Idolatry

Sorcery

Enmeties

Strife

Outburst of anger

Disputes

Dissension

Factions

Drunkenness

Cariusing

Now walking in the SPIRIT is this:

Worshipping

Reading the word

Praying and fasting

Praying in general

Fellowshipping with other believers

Serving others

Evangelism

Meditation on the word/God

The steps God has given me to fight the urges of the deeds of the flesh above when they come through temptation is

1. Turn completely in the opposite direction – this is the very act of repentance, as you feel tempted begin to pray, get up begin to exercise, go on a walk, examine why you’re being tempted befpre acting in the sin and decide that you will not do it. The point is that we have way more power over our thoughts that we give ourselves. We can simply tell the devil “no” and take part in another activity that shuts down the tempting voice. Believe in the power God has given you to turn completely away.

2. Worship – simply put on a worship song and if that is not possible, begin singing one. As you enter into worship your focus shifts from the temptation and onto the words you are actually singing in worship unto God. Worship allows you to fall before God’s feet and glorify him. WORSHIP IN THE FACE OF THE ENEMY. HE CANNOT STAY IF YOU DO.

3. Prayer – as soon as you feel the temptation begin talking to God, this and every other point takes discipline but the more you practice it the better. Enter into deep prayer as you feel the temptation, talk to God about the temptation he more than understands. Just pray.

Faather help us to practice these practical steps in defeating the flesh that we COMPLETE POWER OVER? You have died for the very sin that come to tempt us so that through the Holy Spirit we can CHOOSE to say no and walk in the other direction. Give us the power and discipline to shut down temptation’s voice and walk in the other direction because honestly, when we think of the sin we engage in, it is not worth it. Neither does it glorify you or make you please, NEITHER does it help us grow, it only keeps us in the same place. We can only do this through Christ. In Jesus name amen.

The tongue is nasty

Ephesians 4: 29 & 30

Two important verses in this passage of scripture that I will focus on is Ephesians 4: 29 & 30.

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto to the hearers.” Ephesians 4: 29

“And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” Verse 30

Keep watch of your tongue and do not grieve the Holy Spirit, these are the two points I’ve come to the conclusion on.

Proverbs 15:28 Chapter Parallel Compare  “The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.”

Matthew 15:11 Chapter Parallel Compare “What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”

There are many verses in the bible that speaking on how evil it is to speak on things that defile, are low and evil. We are only to seek to edify our neighbours.

How many times have we opened our mouth to speak about someone else innocently or deliberately with evil intent, we still fall into the trap from time to time. The bible is clear as the day and speaks on how evil it is to gossip, let us learn to watch our tongues and the words we spew out in anger or with evil intent.

This is the key: if you know what you are about to say is about someone and it does not edify them or uplift them as you speak then immediately stop and say nothing.

If the conversation will lead to ridicule, shame, and disgrace on the person being spoken of then you know you immediately need to repent of words spoken and NEVER speak of them again. Gossip is more serious than you know or think, if the bible can so plainly state that what comes out of our mouths can defile us then we need to watch what does.

If you can so clearly think of a time when gossip about yourself tore you down or depressed you because 1. It was not true or 2. It was just plain hurtful, then you should understand and have grace for the people who you are about to gossip about. Simply don’t do it because the damaging effects are far worse than you know.

Repeat this prayer Lord we repent of gossiping and tearing others down with our words, we know how hurtful this is not only to the person but to you. Gossip is considered corrupt and evil, please help us to refrain from doing so, may we instead seek to build others up and speak of them as we would want tp be spoken of in Jesus’ name, amen.

The vision

God gives us many visions, plans and purpose. Habukkuk 2:2Then the LORD replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.

Write it down.

Write down your plans vs what God has told you if you feel like you need clarity. Write down the vision he gave you.

You are special in his sight, he wants all of you, he gives you the vision so that in due time and season you may execute it. My advice to you this morning is to write down the vision!! Take it before the Lord and pray over it.

Many of us have dreams of being in ministry, travelling the world preaching to others, giving to the homeless, excelling in our craft, allowing God to use our gifts in major ways seen by many.In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps. Proverbs 16:9

Seek God

Use your gift! And write his vision!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, pelase allow me to see the vision you have for my life. May I write it down and begin to plan, I know you have great things in store for all of us. Help us to see things like you do, help us to look to you to establish our plans! In Jesus name amen.

Worship

Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful” Psalm 147:1

Some days we wake up heavy and already frustrated and flustered with the day. In the midst of these moments like the scripture says; worship.

As I read my daily devotion from Stormie Omartian’s “The Praying Woman”. I realise that praise and worship is a key part of my day. I must start the day with worship, worship during the day and end with praise and worship because God is to be glorified.

“Although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” Amen! I repent of this because truly we all need to worship God more and we don’t worship him as we should! Today’s reminder however, is to!

Sing and worship God today, right now in this moment open your heart and spirit to receive his goodness and just sing praises to him. He is more than worthy of our praise.

After all, here you are yet again, with your eyes opened, breathing, living.

Let everything that has breath PRAISE THE LORD!

Offer to God Thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most high. Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. Psalm 50:14-15

But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. Psalm 5: 11-12

I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; before the “gods” I will sing your praiseI will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame. When I called, you answered me; you greatly emboldened me.

Psalm 138: 1-3

Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and to the blameless I will show my salvation.”

Psalm 50:23

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

John 4 23-24

Ponder on these scriptures and truly when you worship and praise God from your heart today, your perspective will change, your heart will soften and you will note the bigger picture. God is to be praised lay your burdens down as you take the time to just worship.

The Faithful

I have realised that God uses some situations to test our faithfulness to him.

Do we give up easily as soon as something doesn’t go our way? How about you were faithful all year and God didn’t bless you with the car you wanted, or you didn’t get the raise you were praying for OR you are now in more debt than before because of an unplanned situation.

I can imagine it would put a spoke in your wheel and your faith may waver, but can we look at Faith for a minute?

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

The assurance of things hoped for

Even though the evidence is not there. The thing is, our faith should never be based on what we can see because that is what faith is all about, can you even see faith? Absolutely not.

I was reading Isaiah 1 KJV this morning and these verses jumped out. Verse 21 How is the faithful city become an harlot! It was full of judgement, righteousness lodged in it but now murderers.

Verse 23 Thy princes are rebellious and companions of thieves: everyone loveth gifts and followeth after rewards. Now these verses are from Isaiah the prophet speaking the words God had given him to the Israelites on their behaviour. I took away something from it and applied it to our everyday life.

Those two verses convicted me because it is true, some of us start off walking righteously and then we become caught up with receiving the reward and all the gifts that God’s hand can provide for us.

We lose sight, we forget our faith.

We become so caught up in being faithful or participating in “spiritual things” so that we can receive something for what we have done. It doesn’t work that way, thankfully God is good regardless. However, we need to learn to worship God, learn from him and walk in humility because he is Good not so that we can receive things. Isn’t that using him for his hand?

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, let’s regift our focus to serving you because you are good, because you died on the cross for our sinful nature that would have easily carried us to death and destruction if not for your sacrifice. Let us focus on telling others about you, living in the freedom and love you have freely given us and walk in obedience to you a loving father. Let us walk in purpose and love rather than walking this walk in hopes that you would see an effort we made and repay us. We repent of this ideology and ask that we walk faithfully before not for what your hand can do but for who you are. In Jesus’ name amen.

Remember this, even if no one else sees God sees. Be faithful to him because you love him.

Submission

So, let’s discuss the submission issue.

If you’re like me you ponder about how God wants you to submit. We tend to look at Ephesians 5:22-24

“Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For a husband has authority over his wife just as Christ has authority over the church; and Christ is himself the Savior of the church, his body. 24 And so wives must submit themselves completely to their husbands just as the church submits itself to Christ.”

But look at the beginning of the scripture

Ephesians 5:21 Submit yourselves to one another because of your reverence for Christ. We tend only to focus on the latter but forget the former part of this scripture. As Christians submission is #1 in our walk with God. Not only must wives submit to their husbands but Christians as a body must have a submissive heart toward authorities, mentors and leaders placed to guide us, family members who God also placed to guide us and most importantly to God. How can we submit to others if we cannot submit to God? This is key in a heart of humility and wisdom!

1 Peter 5:5

All of you be submissive to one another, and be clothes with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Submission takes a heart that is humble, willing and obedient.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33

We can only know true submission when we submit to God first. As we submit to his will, his voice, his guidance, it will become easier to submit to others whom he wants you to submit to.

It takes humility but it is TRULY rewarding to live in humility before God.

Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls as those who must give an account.

Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you. Hebrews 13:17.

Always ask God for wisdom on who to submit to but most importantly ask him to let go of any pride that is stopping you from doing so. Pride does nothing good for relationships or for yourself.

LET GO OF YOUR PRIDE.

I declare as you submit to God and others you will see your Godly relationships begin to flourish.

Prayer: Dear Father, give us the humility to be submissive, to you first as well as to others you have placed in our lives. Give us wisdom and lead us to trustworthy individuals that are placed in our lives to submit to. If there is any pride in our hearts in this moment help us to work on it for Proverbs 11:2 “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” Thank you for your grace, in Jesus name, amen.

Dead to sin, Alive in Jesus Christ

Romans 6

New International Version

Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

The word says here in verse 6 that our old self was crucified with Christ. This means he bore our sin and shame FOR US. So we are now new creations because we died to our former fleshly desires and are alive in Christ’s new life and desires for us.

Therefore, must not claim sin as our own. We must not wear it proudly and profess that this is who we are after Jesus christ died for us to receive victory and freedom from the bandages of sin.

The word says we should not continue in sin just because grace now abounds, that is taking God’s grace for granted which will not happen forever. When we sin we are to ask for forgiveness and repent. Note I said when, because yes we are new creations through Christ’s death but we are still flesh and we mess up. The point here is not to stay there, but to continually crucify the desires of the flesh so that sin does not rule in our bodies but that we can live in the delivering power Christ died for us to have.

It is a step by step journey but if your heart’s desires are on him, he is helping you already.

ROMANS 6 :8-18

Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

Romans 7

New International Version

Released From the Law, Bound to Christ

Do you not know, brothers and sisters—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives? For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him. So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man.

So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

Be free, let us consciously live with the understanding that we are no longer bound slaves to sin, let us remember the ultimate sacrifice of love that christ died so that we don’t have to carry those burdens.

Let’s face it, sin only makes us feel worse, miserable and very heavy.

Lay them down and walk in the newness of who you are as a child of God.
